MARY SELLERS b.~1806 d. btw. 1880 & 1900
Charles Sellers, a descendent of Jordan Sellers, reported that Mary Sellers was one of the siblings and that she married John Murrow. This was reported in the 1984 SELLERS LETTERS which you can see on this site.
I've tried tracing various spellings of Murrow through the censuses but couldn't come up with anything that tracked from one census to the next. Below are a few of the ones that I thought were closer to fitting:
- 1820 Guilford NC: John Murrow 26-45; wife 26-45 but older children?
- 1820 Rutherford NC: John Marry 16-26; wife 16-26 + older female
- 1820 Rutherford NC: John Murray 16-26; wife 16-26
- 1830 Macon NC: John Murrow 30-40; wife 20-30
- 1830 Person NC: John Marrow 30-40; wife 20-30
- 1840 Guilford NC: JW Murrow 30-40; wife 20-30 (maybe too young)
- 1850 Rutherford (Duncan's Creek) NC: John Murry Blacksmith 58 + wife Mary, 54
- 1850 Nash Co. NC: John Murray 55 + wife Zilla
Then I found this in Haywood Co. NC. Haywood is adjacent to Buncombe Co. where Drucilla and Thomas Parks may have been in 1830 and just north of Spartanburg SC where Emanuel and Bennett lived after 1835.
1820: John Morrow: Living with father John. He is 16-26 and next door to brother Henry.
1830: John Morrow: Male 20-30; female 3 <5; one 20-30
1840: John Morow: Male 1 <5; 2 5-10; 1 20-30; Female 1 <5; 2 5-10; 2 10-15; 1 20-30
1850: John Morow, 44 b. NC + Mary, 44 b. NC
- Caroline, 24
- Sarah, 23
- James, 18
- Rachael, 15
- Rebecca 14
- William, 10
- Mariah, 5
- John, 4
1860: John Morrow, 53 + Polly, 54: Add 1 daughter, Lory A. age 10 & Lary Morrow, 83 Retired
1870: John Marrow, 63, Mary 64 - Domestic servant listed
1880: John Morrow, 73, Mary 74. He lists his mother born NC, Mary doesn't record either parents birthplace.
